Department of School Education, in coordination with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), will implement a Telangana-wide initiative to achieve 100% Aadhaar enrolment and mandatory biometric updates for all students across government and private schools.

This, “to ensure seamless access to educational services and prevent future examination-related issues”, will be taken up through three Aadhar manpower agencies, who are each allotted 11 districts.

School heads to ensure 100% enrolment

According to the department, headmasters of government schools and principals of private schools shall ensure enrolment of 100% students and complete the pending mandatory biometric updates reflected in the respective School UDISE+ login portals.

Biometric updates at age 5 and 15

As per a review held by Director (School Education) E. Naveen Nicolas on Wednesday (February 25, 2026), the current Aadhaar enrolment stands is at 94 %. The biometric updates require students to refresh iris, fingerprints and photos upon turning 5 and again after 15 years of age in line with UIDAI norms.
