Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday (February 26, 2026) urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately address the demands of Revenue Department officials and employees who are on strike across the State.

In a statement, Dr. Ramadoss said federations of revenue unions are pressing for enhanced pay and special allowance, withdrawal of the 10% employee contribution under the assured pension scheme, filling vacancies on a time-scale basis, and ensuring safety of officials in the Revenue, Disaster Management and Survey departments.

He said directly recruited revenue inspectors have also sought pay fixation as per the 12th Pay Commission and rule changes to enable promotion as Deputy Tahsildar after four years. The strike has affected services such as land surveys, patta transfers, and issuance of certificates, he added.

Stating that officials often face risks while enforcing law and implementing schemes, Dr. Ramadoss said demands for special allowance and a service protection law are justified. He also criticised the reduction in compassionate appointment quota and pointed to over 14,000 vacancies remaining unfilled, urging the government to hold talks and fulfil the employees’ demands.
